DESSERT
  • 1 sheet vanilla sponge cake (approx. 9x13 inches)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream cold
  • 2-3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp strawberry jam (optional)
  • 1/4 cup melted white chocolate (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • whisk/electric mixer

Method

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Whip cold heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
  2. Lay the vanilla sponge cake flat on parchment paper and trim its edges to create a rectangle.
  3. Spread strawberry jam evenly over the cake, then follow with an even layer of the whipped cream.
  4. Arrange the sliced fresh strawberries along the edge of the cake closest to you.
  5. Carefully use the parchment paper to roll the cake forward, forming a tight log.
  6. Wrap the finished roll securely and chill it in the refrigerator for 45 to 60 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, slice the roll into 1-inch thick pieces, garnish with melted white chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar, and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, ensure the heavy whipping cream is very cold before whipping. Using a sharp knife will help achieve clean slices.
