Method
- Brew the espresso and set it aside. If using strongly brewed coffee instead of espresso, make it extra concentrated.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until hot and steaming, but not boiling.
- Use a whisk or milk frother to blend the mixture until smooth and slightly foamy. If desired, strain it for an extra-silky texture.
- Pour the espresso into a large mug, then add the pumpkin milk mixture and stir to combine.
- Top with whipped cream and a light sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
For a richer drink, add the optional sweetened condensed milk when heating the milk mixture. Adjust the sugar to taste, and use strong coffee if you do not have espresso.
