Ingredients

  • Pre-cooked Ham (8-10 lbs, bone-in or boneless)
  • Pure Honey (1 cup)
  • Dark Brown Sugar (1/2 cup, packed)
  • Dijon Mustard (1/4 cup)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (2 tablespoons)
  • Orange Juice (1/4 cup, freshly squeezed)
  • Ground Cloves (1 teaspoon)
  • Ground Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Garlic Powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Black Pepper (1/2 teaspoon, freshly ground)
  • Water or Ham Broth (1 cup)

Method

  1. Remove the pre-cooked ham from its packaging, score the skin in a diamond pattern, and place fat-side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour 1 cup of water or ham broth into the pan.
  2. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  3. In a small saucepan, combine glaze ingredients and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and the glaze thickens slightly.
  4. Bake the ham uncovered for 1 hour, basting generously every 15-20 minutes with the honey glaze.
  5. Continue baking and basting until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) (about 15-20 minutes per pound).
  6. Optionally increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 15-20 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
  7. Remove ham and tent loosely with aluminum foil for 15-20 minutes before carving.
  8. Carve against the grain into desired slices and serve with remaining glaze.

Notes

This dish is perfect for family gatherings. Prepare the honey glaze ahead of time for easier cooking. Ensure you have a reliable meat thermometer and don’t skip the resting period to keep the ham moist.
