  • Whisk
  • fine mesh sieve
  • heatproof jar or bottle
  • measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. For a smoother syrup, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a heatproof jar or bottle, pressing gently on the solids.
  6. Let the syrup cool completely before sealing and refrigerating.
  7. Use 1 to 2 tablespoons in hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes, or other drinks.

Notes

Store the syrup in a sealed jar or bottle in the refrigerator. For the smoothest texture, strain after cooking. Shake well before each use if any pumpkin settles.
