Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • ¼ cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 6-8 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons Milk (for glaze)

  3. Knead the Dough: Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled.
  5. Shape the Donuts: Punch down the dough, roll out to ½-inch thickness and cut out heart shapes.
  6. Second Rise: Cover shaped donuts and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  7. Prepare for Frying/Baking: Heat oil to 350-375°F for frying or preheat oven to 375°F for baking.
  8. Cook the Donuts: Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden, or bake for 10-15 minutes.
  9. Make the Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk together until smooth.
  10. Glaze the Donuts: Dip warm donuts into the glaze and set on a rack.

Notes

Ensure yeast is fresh for proper rising. Handle dough gently to maintain airiness n Avoid overcrowding when frying to prevent greasy donuts n Glaze while warm for better adhesion.
