Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium-sized fresh oranges
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup natural sweetener
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare the orange juice by washing the oranges, zesting one if using, halving them and extracting about 2 cups of orange juice. Strain the juice to ensure smoothness.
  2. Bloom the gelatin by sprinkling it over 1 cup of cold water and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Gently heat the bloomed gelatin over low heat, whisking continuously until fully dissolved without boiling.
  4. Combine the strained orange juice, lemon juice, sweetener, and optional ingredients into the gelatin mixture, whisking until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into heatproof bowls or molds.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4-6 hours or overnight until set.
  7. Serve and enjoy your Healthy Orange Jelly, optionally garnished with fresh fruit or mint.

Notes

Opt for the freshest oranges for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of the oranges. Use agar-agar for a vegan version.
