Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • measuring cups
  • silicone molds or mini ice cube tray
  • Spoon

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, warm the broth over low heat until hot but not boiling.
  2. Whisk in the unflavored gelatin until completely dissolved, then stir in the pumpkin purée and peanut butter until smooth.
  3. Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool for 2 to 3 minutes so it is still pourable but not too hot.
  4. Spoon a small amount into silicone molds, mini ice cube trays, or a shallow dish.
  5. If using a dish, place a pill in the center and spoon a little more mixture over it to help conceal it.
  6. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours, or until fully set and firm.
  7. Pop the treats out of the molds or cut into small pieces if using a dish. Serve one treat at a time as needed, and always supervise your dog while eating.

Notes

Use only xylitol-free peanut butter and broth that is onion-free and unsalted, since some ingredients can be harmful to dogs. Store treats in the refrigerator and use them as needed.
