Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cake Sara Lee Angel Food Cake
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon
  • vegetable oil for frying
Optional Drizzle
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for optional drizzle
  • 1 tablespoon milk for optional drizzle

Equipment

  • Bowl
  • Pan or Skillet
  • Tongs or Slotted Spoon

Method

Main
  1. Thaw the angel food cake completely, then cut it into approximately 1.5-inch cubes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over low-medium heat and fry the cake cubes until they are golden brown.
  3. Immediately after frying, transfer the golden brown cubes to a bowl containing the cinnamon and sugar mixture, then toss to coat them thoroughly.
  4. For an enhanced flavor, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk, and drizzle this glaze over the finished churro bites before serving.

Notes

Ensure the oil is not too hot to prevent burning the cake cubes before they are golden brown. For an extra touch of sweetness, consider drizzling the churro bites with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
