Ingredients

  • 1 pound lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion or chives
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Prepare your ingredients: If using fresh crab meat, pick through it to remove shell bits. If frozen, thaw and pat dry. Finely dice celery and onion/chives, and chop parsley.
  2. Make the Dressing: In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: Add diced celery, onion/chives, and parsley to the dressing. Stir gently to coat.
  4. Add the Crab: Fold in lump crab meat gently to maintain texture.
  5. Season and Chill: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Spoon onto lettuce cups or bread, and garnish with lemon wedges or paprika.

Notes

Use high-quality lump crab meat for best results. Ensure crab is dry to avoid a watery salad. Allowing flavors to meld in the fridge enhances taste.
