Ingredients

  • 3 cups strong brewed coffee, chilled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar or preferred sweetener
  • 4 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream or coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk or alternative sweetener
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Optional garnish: cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or whole coffee beans

Method

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water. Stir briefly and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to bloom.
  2. Heat 1 cup of strong brewed coffee in a medium saucepan over medium heat until warm, then remove from heat.
  3. Add the bloomed gelatin mixture to the warm coffee and whisk until dissolved. Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the coffee mixture into the remaining chilled coffee, stirring well. Optional: strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
  5. Pour into an 8x8 inch baking dish and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours or overnight until firm.
  6. Prepare the topping by whisking together heavy cream, condensed milk, and vanilla until thick and creamy.
  7. Serve the coffee jelly cut into cubes with the cream topping and optional garnish.

Notes

Ensure to bloom the gelatin thoroughly in cold water and use strong brewed coffee for the best flavor. Store the topping separately until serving.
